PARENTHOOD, IT AIN'T EASY.
When we decided, we want to have a child, it wasn’t an easy decision. Although baby fever is real, having a child is something that most people would like to plan for. Our journey of conceiving wasn’t the quickest, but during this journey is when we truly saw our desire to be parents. They say “You can never be prepared enough to have a child”. And they, who ever “they” are, were right!
Parenthood, ain’t easy. There is so much that goes into parenting that no one can prepare you for. It doesn’t matter how many books you read or baby classes you attend. No one is ever “ready”. There are two words that stand out to us when it comes to describing parenthood and those are sacrifice & servanthood.
Everyday we selflessly put the needs of our child before our own. We sacrifice our body (stretch marks, postpartum recovery), time, & comfort. Although we do it with good intention, we aren’t always happy about it in the moment. We look towards the long term result.
We serve our child daily & show him how much he is loved. We also try to be Jesus in his life by having an unconditional love even when we are most frustrated. We believe that being a parent is an honor & privilege. It’s a huge responsibility that should not be taken lightly. We are raising a human! We have the opportunity to shape the next generation.
And so, to all the parents out there, you are not alone. We understand now. We thank our parents & appreciate them more than ever. The beauty of it is that, since there is no manual on “the right way” to parent, you are doing just fine! Don’t let anyone make you feel less. Take it one day at a time. Embrace every moment. The good, the not so good, the cries/screams, your own tears, the milestones, and the smiles as well.
